There are different types of KDrama. Some KDramas will make you cry, make you think, make you feel scared, make you feel inlove, and some will simply just make you happy and contented. The Best Hit, based on how I perceived it, is a combination of romance and comedy with a little fiction in it. And it made me happy.

One Friday night, I decided to watch The Best Hit since I saw its trailer on Youtube. I honestly do not want to watch any KDrama now since I am so busy and I might get attached to it. I always get attached with every KDrama that I watch. But I ended up watching it to tell myself that I deserve some rest from all these school and work stuff. The Best Hit is a fun KDrama and if given the chance, I would like to watch it again.

This is going to be my first time to do a review of a KDrama, and I guess I will continue to do so, so that I can practice my writing abilities too. My review is just based on what I watched and I’m not a professional one lol.

Before I start to write what I like and dislike about The Best Hit, I will give you a little bit of a background regarding this drama. Note, it may contain spoilers.

Background of The Best Hit

Yoo Hyun Jae is a famous singer in the 90s. He is a part of a duo, J2. It was also stated that he was secretly dating another singer, known as The Fairy, Bo Hee. Unfortunately, J2 disbanded because Hyun Jae was missing. As shown in the first episode, Hyun Jae time travelled to 2017 where he met these group of friends - Choi Woo Seung (who apparantly became his lover), Lee Ji Hoon (his son with Bo Hee) and MC Drill (Ji Hoon’s co-trainee). He also met his former manager Lee Gwang Jae who became the adoptive father of Lee Ji Hoon. And that’s where the story comes up. It is about Hyun Jae adjusting to his new world while looking for the reasons why he went missing in 1994.

Here are the things that I liked in The Best Hit:

The actors and their characters

I am attracted to a KDrama if I can deeply relate to the characters or if the actors are indeed great in acting which allows me to feel the way the character is feeling.

Lee Ji Hoon (played by Kim Min Jae)

In this KDrama, I can relate myself with one of the main characters, Lee Ji Hoon. Lee Ji Hoon is an aspiring singer. Well given from his genes, he truly deserve to be one. His adoptive father Gwang Jae was against him being a singer because he knows the pressure Ji Hoon can get. Instead, he want him to study for the civil exam which will make him earn money.

My parents too were the same. They wanted me to get another profession other than being a singer. A profession that will help me earn money to sustain my needs. That is actually why I wanted to watch this drama because I thought it would be something as inspiring as Dream High.

Yoo Hyun Jae (played by Yoon Shi Yoon)

Yoon Shi Yoon looks like DAY6’s Young K. He was the main actor in Flower Boy Next Door and a part of 2 Days 1 Night. It’s been a long time since I watched Flower Boy Next Door and to be honest I already forgot the story. He is a one of a kind actor. Well, he can make you laugh, cry and fall in love. He portrayed his character very well that is why I am questioning myself if I love the actor or his character.

I like his character because he is very honest. He is like someone who does not care much about life and just do what he wants to do. But at the same time, he cares deep inside. He may did wrong things in his past but eventually he realized his mistakes and is trying to be a good person.

Choi Woo Seung (played by Lee Se Young)

Choi Woo Sung is the kind of girl I wanted myself to be, the strong and reliable one, a great friend. She works hard in order to achieve her dreams. But she does not forget how to be happy even if life sucks. She is simply a happy pill. Plus, there is a certain scene where she she said a memorable line.

MJ (played by Cha Eun Woo)

I also get to see Cha Eun Woo’s quirky side through his character as MJ. To be very honest, I haven’t watched My ID is Gangnam Beauty. I might watch it soon, just give me more time to think about it. Haha.

Lee Gwang Jae (played by Cha Tae Hyun)

The person who loves his family so much. You can really see in this drama his true personality about being family-oriented. He is a really good actor.

The simplicity of the story

Real life is already stressful and watching this drama will just make your stress go away. There are a lot of KDramas nowadays who have a heavy plot which gives me more burden. I like the simplicity of the story. It doesn’t make me cry but instead in makes me laugh, which I badly needed. There are no big twists or heavy scenes. If you are really looking for just a simple story that will just make you go kilig  I recommend this drama.

I actually laughed hard in this KDrama. It has been a while since I laughed like that. The previous KDramas that I watched were pretty heavy in terms of plots which makes me anxious at some times.

The cute kiss scenes

The cute kiss scenes that I liked here was when Hyun Jae was telling Woo Seung that he was thinking of her as he writes the song. Woo Seung is wearing headphones and can’t hear what Hyun Jae was saying so Hyun Jae ended up just kissing her.

Another one was the yellow umbrella scene. Although it was just an imagination, I still find it cute. I actually thought that scene was real an not Hyun Jae’s imagination so I feel really excited for his confession.

The memorable lines

Even from the start, they already showed memorable lines. Here are some of the lines that I managed to have a screenshot of.


"It would have been better if  looked more like a princess." I was actually affected by this line maybe because I do not look like a princess. I do not even look like a pretty young woman. At that moment, I felt exactly what the little girl feels.


This is the system nowadays. Most of the students study just because they are afraid of failing or becoming nothing. They study because they simply want to pass and not learn. I am not saying all students, but most students feel this way. And I guess I am one of them.

The cameos

I have seen a lot of artists at this KDrama. The fun part here is that most of them were my favorite (or someone I have watched in some KDramas)

Here are some of those who made a cameo:

Ahn Kil Kang

Ahn Kil Kang made a cameo on the first episode (or second, sorry I actually forgot). I knew this actor since he played a role in Dream High. Years have already passed and it's fun to see him doing a cameo.

Jang Hyuk

One of the best actors I have known. Plus, he is also one of my favorite! Voice was the last KDrama that I watched wherein he was one of the main leads. I haven't watched his latest KDrama (huhu sorry, I'm so busy at the moment).

Lee Kwang Soo

I know Lee Kwang Soo because of Running Man. But honestly, I did not expect that he would be Choi Woo Seung's boyfriend.

2 Days 1 Night casts (Defconn, Kim Junho, Kim Jongmin)

Ahhhh. It would be so much fun if Jung Joon Young also made a cameo, right? But it's really nice to see that aside from 2 Days 1 Night they get to act on one drama (even if they are from different scenes).

What I disliked about The Best Hit:

Some scenes were a bit overreacted

I know at some time overacting is part of the comedy style. But there are some scenes were it was too much.

One example is the first kiss of Hyun Jae and Woo Seung. How did they end up kissing in such situation?


Another is their finger fight. A finger fight can make you faint. I know I should not take it literally but I just find it not that funny and was really overacted.

Hyunjae going back to his past

I was a bit confused with the last part of this drama. Hyun Jae went back to his past just to ask his 1994 self to come with him so that his sickness would be treated. But before that, the main reason why he wanted to go back to the past is to not ruin the future. If he won’t be back to his past, then Ji Hoon won’t exist.

It’s kinda confusing because the 1994 Hyun Jae still exists therefore Ji Hoon will still exist whether the current Hyun Jae come back or not. I think it would be better if he went back to his 1993 Hyun Jae since that is the time he left when he time travelled. If he went back to 1993, he would live until 1994 and can just go back to 2017.

I still don’t get that part (also the storm thingy, tho I understood that once that twin storm comes you can wish to go back and fix the mistakes you made) so if anybody is willing to tell me about it and make me understand more, I would gladly appreciate it.

He is still Ji Hoon's father

It's kinda awkward how a father and a son fight for the same girl. Although I really like Hyun Jae and Woo Seung. It's just that, I hope Ji Hoon wasn't his son. HAHA.

Conclusion

Overall, I can say that The Best Hit is just a typical drama. But I appreciate everyone who is involved in this drama for creating it. It may not be as memorable as Lee Jong Suk’s ‘W’ (which is still my fave up until now), but personally it is still worth watching. There are no boring parts, just fun ones. Storywise, I’ll give this KDrama a 6/10. But for the whole production, I’ll give it an 8/10.

This I guess was the most peaceful yet super fulfilling concert that I have attended. WINNER ‘Everywhere’ Tour in Manila was held at the MOA Arena last November 10, 2018. This concert was brought to you by Pulp Live World.

I will be very honest with you, I am not a YG stan. I mean, I know the artists but I barely stan them. The only YG artist that I was a fan of was AKMU.

"So why did you attend Winner's concert in Manila if you're not a fan?"

Like what I have mentioned in some of my blog posts, I am a Global Correspondent of kpopchannel.tv. This time, they asked me to cover the event. Since I was given the chance to cover it, I accepted it. Because of that, I started listening to Winner’s songs since I need to write an article about the concert.

I only know 2 songs from them. That was Really Really (the most famous one I guess) and Everyday (their latest song). Upon hearing the possible setlist, I fell in love with ‘Empty’, ‘For’, and ‘Love Me Love Me’ and was really looking forward to hear it live.

D-Day

So going back to D-Day. We were not given media passes (since YG said there will be no professional cameras for the event) instead they gave us tickets so that we can still cover and write articles about the event. This was my first time to see a ticket where the word ‘Guest’ was written. I feel like I was really a guest during the event.

So together with my fellow correspondent, Ate Dee, we were able to witness the greatness of Winner.

At around 6:30pm, we have entered the venue. The place was calm. I was a bit shocked that the fans were still calm despite the fact that they are inside the venue already. I just thought that maybe they are saving their energy for the concert.

Few minutes later, the sound started to get loud and the lights slowly fade. A VCR played. That’s when the screams started to get louder and louder. And there you have it, Winner is finally on stage singing ‘Empty’.

I don’t know why but I felt some goosebumps as they start performing. Suddenly, I felt like I became one with Inner Circles. Their voices were really great, especially Yoon. He, I guess, has the most stable voice. They continue their performances and also had some segments.

The most awaited part of the segment is of course, them speaking in Filipino. It's fun hearing them speak our language. Some of the most memorable lines were, "Mahal ko Kayo!", "Sigaw" (well SHIGAW actually lol)", and "Mabuhay".

"What are the memorable things during the concert?"

SOLO SEGMENTS

Well, aside from seeing Winner as a whole, one of the most memorable thing that happened during the concert was their solo segments.

It has been 2 years since the first MBC Show Champion was held in Manila. This 2018, it came back with a very unexpected line up. EXO - the most awaited kpop group in the line up - MXM, Weki Meki, The Boyz, Hyeongseop x Euwioong, and Xeno - T rocked the stage of MOA Arena last October 28, 2018.
Why did I say it was an unexpected line up? Maybe because this event was mostly composed of rookie groups. But I am really looking forward to see them since they are my ‘produce’ babies. Two Weki Meki (Yoojung and Doyeon) members were IOI members. MXM, Hyeongseop x Euiwoong, and one member from The Boyz (Haknyeon) joined Produce 101 Season 2.
Meanwhile, Xeno-T, I learned that they were formerly known as Topp Dogg. To be honest, I do not know them.
This event was not perfect. Up until now, I am still thinking if attending that concert was really worth it. Yes, I saw some of my favorites but there was something missing. I still can’t figure what that thing is. But still, I thank All Access Productions for bringing these groups.
I have no plans on attending this concert because I have no money to buy tickets. On the day itself, sponsor gave me a complimentary ticket for the event. So I attended the concert. What shocked me during the concert was the people beside me were my some of my friends in the KPOP world. Who would have thought I’ll get to meet them there?

XENO-T

The concert started at about 7pm. To be very honest, it was kinda disappointing because there were few attendees. You can clearly see the vacant seats in front, although the upperbox and gen ad section were full. What makes it more disappointing was during Xeno-T’s performace where the fans rushed down because a staff said to move down to fill the lower parts of the arena. But at the end, everyone went back to their seats.
It was kinda embarassing in front of Xeno-T because they might think that we were leaving the place. I wasn’t able to watch Xeno-T’s whole performance because of what happened. And I really feel bad for it. I hope I’ll get to see them perform again soon.

Hyeongseop x Euiwoong

When my friends and I got back to our original place, Hyeongseop x Euiwoong was starting their performance. This time, I made sure that I watched their performance. It’s fun to watch them perform since their looks are very bright. My disappointment were a bit lessen with it. Just a bit.

The Boyz

The next performer was The Boyz. I know them by their name but I do not know any of their songs. But upon hearing them perform, I really believe that their name will soon be big. Their dance moves were on point and their vocals were great too. They performed KeePer which really caught my attention. I started to like the song.
The Boyz said that they are looking forward to have their solo concert in the Philippines too. Well, I’m pretty sure the B’s are also looking forward for it.

Weki Meki

Weki Meki performed next. I was really looking forward for their performances since they are the only girl group in the line up. Also, I’m looking forward to see Yoojung and Doyeon, my IOI babies. Weki Meki did not disappoint the fans. They really performed well. And Doyeon was such a goddess.

MXM

MXM, the group that I really want to see. They were actually one of my favorites during Produce 101 Season 2. Unfortunately, they did not make it to the top11. But it’s okay. They debuted as a duo and their songs were really cute. It’s fun to see and hear the fans scream the fanchants during MXM. It only means that MXM has an established fanbase here in the Philippines.
Donghyun was a bit more talkative than Youngmin. I was really amazed with Donghyun’s features too. He really look good. He looks better on person rather than on pictures. Youngmin was just there being quiet but showing his strong charms as he perform their songs. Ah, I really can’t wait for them to debut with Woojin and Daehwi.

EXO

When MXM ended their performance, the crowds went wild. Well, it’s EXO’s time. What are we gonna expect.
Everyone from their seats started to stand up. We ended up standing or else we won’t be able to see anything. EXO performed 4 songs. EXO still managed to catch everyone’s heart. After following them since debut, this was my first time seeing them live. They are EXO and they proved that they deserve everyone’s love. They were really good. Promise.
That’s how the concert ended. To be very honest, the volume of the microphones and the sound itself were very low. When the fans screamed, I barely heard the performers’ voices. I hope AAP will soon fix it.

I love AAP because they really try to bring groups that we thought would never be able to perform here in the Philippines. But I can’t deny the fact that this concert was so far the worst concert I have attended. A lot were not able to have their photo op perks, the venue was not filled, the music and the sound were low in volume, the sudden change of seats during Xeno-T’s performance..these were just the few little negative things.
Positive? EXO-Ls were very kind that they managed to study the fanchants or other groups. Plus, even if the groups were not really familiar with them, they still screamed out loud. Thank you EXO-Ls for supporting the rookie groups.

DAY6 ‘Youth’ in Manila has been the talk of the town. This was the first time this Korean band performed in the Philippines. Filipino My Days have been so excited to see them and watch them perform live. They, or should I say we, have been waiting for three years.

This blog post might be a little emotional. It won't be all about what happened in the concert but more of what I felt during the concert. To be honest, this is the worst PCD I have ever experienced in my whole life. So are you ready to feel what I felt during Wanna One 'One: The World' in Manila?
September 1, 2018 - It is the date I wanted to come and at the same time the date I am afraid to come. If you have notice in my previous blogs, I have been a fan of Wanna One (Wannable) ever since the start. I have watched Produce 101 Season 2 and waited for their debut. It feels like it was just yesterday when I started watching them on my laptop. But here we are now, on their last stop for the world tour, and maybe my last chance to see them in flesh as a whole group.
Wanna One is just a project group and is not meant to be a permanent group. And that what hurts the most. I have invested a lot of feelings for them and at the end I will just see them being disbanded and go on with their new or old groups. How I wish they were a permanent group.
I went to Malaysia last July 21, 2018 to witness their concert. By then, I no longer have plans on seeing them here in Manila because of money issues. But there is something telling me to go and watch. God made a way for me to watch the said concert. My seat was actually on Lowerbox C Section 218.

Here is my view. To be honest, I'm quite near than expected. I can still clearly see them at the extended stage and main stage. During concerts, I always choose the seated part since I can't stand up for a long time. Although, I feel a little bit disappointed with myself. I hope that I can be like those fans who can stand up for straight 3-4 hours with a lot of people surrounding them.
The concert started at around 7:30pm. PH Wannables became even wilder than usual and those from our section started standing up from their seats. So even if I'm at the seated area, I was still standing.
The moment Wanna One went out of the stage, I became so emotional even if the song is Burn it Up. Well, who wouldn't be? It might be the last time I'll get to see them perform Burn it Up.
As the concert progresses, the more gloomy I feel. I badly want to cry on that same time but I shouldn't and just enjoy the said concert. I already know the line up of the songs since I have watched it in Malaysia. Somehow, I felt like this was my first time seeing them.


What I love in the crowd is their energy which made the boys hyper too. Daehwi even mentioned that we are the loudest crowd who sang with them during Always. PH fans are always loudest fans.
Wanna One didn't fail us when they started talking in Filipino. Well the most memorable for me is when Kuan Lin said, "Baby ko." And my noona heart died. IKAW ANG BEBE KO KUAN LIN! They kept on saying "Mahal ko Kayo" and "Akin ka" which made the crowd even more louder.
At the end of the concert, they kept on saying that they will come back soon. They might come back but not as Wanna One anymore since their contract is about to end.
Bae Jinyoung told us to never forget about them. It made me more emotional. I promise you. I won't.
My heart started to sank down when they had their last bow and went back to the main stage while the LED screen is going down. It's the last.


As I started going out of the concert venue, it all sank down on me. Everything. The concert has finally ended. My tears started to fall. Some of my friends are laughing at me for crying. But, I really can't contain my feelings anymore.
As much as I enjoyed the concert, a part of me isn't because I know it's the end.
But I'm thankful I had the chance to see them for one last time. I am thankful I got to see them three times before disbanding. Although I feel it is still not enough, I am still thankful for every opportunity.

It's almost a month since I went to Malaysia (together with Ms. Jay) to watch Wanna One "One: The World" concert there. I became sick after the travel and I have been busy with my thesis that is why I wasn't able to blog about it right away.
