Happy Hallyu Day

July 25, 2016

I've been a KPop fan since 2010 (ELF is my first and ultimate fandom). So I'm celebrating my 6th year of being a KPop fan this year. But this will be my first time attending a big event for KPop fans. This experience gave me a chance to know more of how a lot of things in the KPop World happen.

Before I start my experience on this event, I would like to give you some information about it first.

Happy Hallyu Day is an event organized by the Korean Cultural Center of the Philippines (KCC) and Philippine Kpop Convention Inc. (PKCI) and hosted by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE). Different activities are presented in these events such as talent showcase where cover groups and singers perform the songs of their favorite group or singer, fan club booths where some of the Philippine fan clubs sell either their fan-made merchandises or even official merchandises, seminars where famous people will teach the fans how to do make-ups and stylize their everyday fashion, and games with albums/DVDs as prizes.

The good news here is that THIS IS A FREE EVENT. Yes, you read it right. It is a free event but of course, only limited people may enter the event place.

This event happened last July 23, 2016, 10am-5pm, at the SM North Edsa Skydome.

So I guess, I already presented some useful information here so I'll be going on with my experience.

You see this staff ID? Yes. I am one of the staff or should I say a volunteer in this event. Actually, I was shocked when our head admin messaged me saying that they needed more volunteers. Even though it's a bit rush, I still accepted it so that I can enhance my skills that may be involved here.

So this was the time when we are all preparing before the event. I was actually at the JYP Nation PH booth to check on the merchandises they are showing (since I am a part of this fanclub).

At around 9:30 am, us staff went to our designated places so we will be prepared for the people arriving. I was assigned at the entrance together with one PKCI volunteer, Jana. Our task is to make sure those people entering have their tickets and at the same time count the number of people entering.

The line was definitely long and we even reached our quota of 800 people. But there are still a lot of people lining up. I'm so sorry we can't accommodate everyone. The program started at about 10:30am but I was too busy at the entrance that's why I wasn't able to check on the program flow.

There are a lot of people who were complaining outside that's why we, staff, are trying to calm them down and explain to them everything.

When all the commotions are done (not actually done maybe I just stopped caring lol), I was finally able to go to my fan club booth and check on how they are doing. And I guess, they are doing well there. There are a lot of people buying merchandises.

The whole day was definitely a hard and tough one. I was standing almost all my stay there. But it was definitely worth it especially when you are with your friends.

Hi Bea and Ate Marie! :P Dear Ate Jovs, I hope you can upload our pictures together. HAHA^^

This event helped me improve my social and communication skills especially when talking with mad fans or even older people. My patience was as well tested but still, I was able to maintain my composure. It was totally a once in a lifetime experience. If again given a chance to be a volunteer, I will be very happy to accept it.

Thank you PKCI! Thank you DAY6 Philippines! Thank you TWICE PH! Thank you JYP Nation Philippines! Thank you friends! Til next event!
