Visiting SEVENTEEN's Love Pop-Up Store in Tokyo

My first budol in Tokyo

Last April 27, SEVENTEEN announced through their Japan official website that they will be having pop-up stores in Osaka and Tokyo in line with their Love Japan Fan Meeting this May 2023. I made sure that I'll visit the one in Tokyo since I'll be going to Tokyo for their fan meeting.

As soon as I have arrived in my hotel, I immediately went to Shibuya for the pop-up store since I have a reserved schedule of 5:20pm. Since my flight that day was delayed, I was also late in arriving at the pop-up store but thankfully they still accepted me and was able to enter it.

How to go to the pop-up store

Location: 9SY Building 1F (6-23-3 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

Through the use of Google maps, I was able to go here without any hassle. From my hotel (which is Hotel Edoya), I rode the Chiyoda Line train going to Yoyogi-Uehara. From Yushima Station, it only took around 20 minutes to go to Meiji-jingumae 'Harajuku' Station. And by there, I just walked towards the pop-up store.

You can easily find the venue because it has this large poster outside. Plus, there were a lot of Carats in front.

The pop-up store in Tokyo was only from May 11 - May 28. Good thing, I was able to have a reservation for May 26. You can't enter the pop-up store without the reservation. The reservation was done through the website too.

What's inside the pop-up store

To be honest, I don't really know what to expect in this pop-up store. The only thing I know is they will be selling the fan meeting merch.

I was actually shocked that there were still a lot of merch when I entered even though it was already late. Usually, most of their merch immediately get sold out in the morning. But I guess, I was still blessed since there were merch available.

The merch that I really want to buy was the white tshirt. I really love the design even though it was in white. I still bought the tshirt even if the smallest size is M. I was actually tempted to buy Joshua's and Wonwoo's uchiwa but I tried not to buy it since I don't want to splurge a large amount of money on my first day in Japan.

The venue was just small but since I'm a fan, it's really a must-visit especially if you're into the experience of seeing it personally.

Fangirling in Thailand: My Be The Sun in Bangkok Experience

If you have read or watched my tutorial on how to buy tickets from ThaiTicketMajor, then you probably know that I bought tickets to Seventeen's Be The Sun in Bangkok because I wasn't able to secure a Day 2 ticket here in Manila.

This is probably the most impulsive thing I have done. I really did not plan on attending the concert in Bangkok because I am so confident that I'll get to secure a ticket here in Manila. But things didn't go as I planned it to be. So after the general selling of Seventeen's Be The Sun in Manila, I bought a ticket to Thailand.

Pros of attending a concert in Thailand

There were still tickets left

It's already been days since the start of the ticket selling in Thailand and there were still tickets available. Although the near seats are already sold out, there were still tickets left from other sections. Since my goal is just to attend the concert, it really doesn't matter which seat I am in. As long as I am there.

You can also travel

Aside from attending the concert, you can also travel to another country. This is actually my first time in Thailand. So, this is a great experience for me. It's like I'm hitting two birds with one stone.

Tickets are much cheaper

The most expensive ticket I guess was like 11,000 pesos (depends on the conversion). But yeah, there are still plane tickets to think of but still if you compute all the expenses and experiences it's most likely the same.

Hear the artist's music more

I have mentioned this is my Lee Dong Wook's fan meeting blog, when attending an event in another country, you can hear less screams. Same goes with concerts. In the Philippines, the fans are really loud. But in another country, it's a bit less. They still scream, yes, but you can't really compare the loudness with PH fans. Hence, you can hear the artist more. You can hear their voices more.

Cons of attending a concert in Thailand

Mostly about the language

I don't know anything about the Thai language. So, I can't understand a single thing when it's being translated. Good thing, I can somehow understand Korean. But my knowledge in Korean is still not enough. Also, it's hard to communicate with some other staff or fans since English isn't their first language too.

You have to prepare a lot of things

From hotels to some itinerary to preparing documents for immigration. You really have to plan even more. Though I also book hotels during concerts in Manila but this one is a different case.

My Short trip in Busan and Future Travel Plans

Busan is my second favorite place in South Korea, next to Seoul. Ever since I became interested with South Korea as a whole, I have been doing a lot of research on where to visit or what to do. Last 2019, I was able to visit Busan for 3-days and I can say that 3 days isn't enough for me.

In this blog, I'll be sharing to you the places I have visited in Busan and the places I want to visit if given the chance.

Places I Have Visited in Busan

ASEAN Culture House

Address: 162, Jwadong-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, 48108, Korea

The ASEAN Culture House is the "hall of culture" wherein the culture and history of the 10 ASEAN countries are introduced to Korea. The building consists of exhibition halls, VR rooms, seminar rooms, and concert hall.

ACH was actually the reason why I got to visit South Korea again last 2019. They invited us for a 9-day trip in South Korea along with other ASEAN countries. During my visit here in ACH, I was able to attend a cooking class!

Haeundae Beach

Address: 264, Haeundaehaebyeon-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan

I wanted to visit Haeundae Beach ever since I have watched it on a variety show (not quite sure if it was Return of Superman or 2 Days 1 Night). And when I got to visit it, I can't help but just be amazed on how beautiful it is. In fact, I barely had photos here because I was busy smiling and appreciating the surroundings.

We went here during Autumn, so it's a bit chilly. I wonder how it feels if it is summer.

Haeundae Dongbaekseom Island

Address: 67, Dongbaek-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan

My photo here looks bright but it's not hot. Look, I even wore a jacket. We were supposed to visit the APEC House but it was closed because they are preparing for an event. We walked even more and saw this place. I love how quiet and peaceful this place is.

Gamcheon Culture Village

Address: 203, Gamnae 2-ro, Saha-gu, Busan

I am a fan of The Little Prince that is why I really want to visit Gamcheon Culture Village just to take a photo with the little prince. And I really fell in love with the place. "I want to stay here forever. It feels like home." Those were the words that is going on in my mind.

If given the chance, I would like to go back to Gamcheon to take more photos and buy more souvenirs! I love the bag that I bought here.

Soon to Visit in Busan

Oryukdo Skywalk

Just look at how beautiful this place is. I'm already imaging a lot of photos I will take once I get to see this skywalk. I am afraid of heights but I am willing to take risk if this is the view I'll be seeing.

BIFF Square

Address: 4, Nampo-gil, Jung-gu, Busan

I want to see the celebrity hand prints at the street of BIFF Square. Not only that, I also want to taste the popular street food, ssiat hotteok (sugar-filled seeded griddlecake), dak kkochi (chicken skewers), tteokbokki, and croquettes.

To be honest, I would love to spend a week just in Busan. Three days for me wasn't enough. I need more time on each place to take photos, videos, and appreciate the surrounding. Once this pandemic ends, I hope I can visit Busan again!

Reasons Why I Love Hongdae and Why You Will Love It Too

When I was planning on my first Korea trip, I remember asking some friends on where to stay in Korea. A lot of them answered Hongdae. I was a bit intrigued why most of them answered Hongdae. But when I finally got to stay there, I now know the reasons. And today, I'll be sharing to you the reasons why I love Hongdae.

Convenient Transportation

When my friends and I have arrived at the Incheon International Airport, we immediately looked for the train to go to Hongik University. There are actually two types of train in the airport, the Express Train and the All Stop Train. The Express Train runs from the airport to Seoul Station while the All Stop Train stops at all the subway station.

Since we'll be staying in Hongdae, we used the All Stop Train and alight at Hongik University. And from there, we just walked to our chosen hotel/place.

Shopping and Food

When it comes to fashion, I really love how Koreans dress up. Through Hongdae's Shopping Area, I was able to buy cheap yet quality and beautiful clothes. Not only that, I also got to buy a bag worth 10,000 won. If only I have unlimited baggage, I would have bought a lot. Hongdae also have a lot of make-up stores. I don't usually wear make-up but my friends do so I got to check out those stores too.

There are also a lot of good restaurants and cafes in Hongdae. One of my favorite is the Hong Chun Cheon Cheese Dakgalbi. The staff there were really accommodating and they offer a large amount of food per order. You should definitely check it out once you visit Hongdae.

Live Performances

At night, there are a lot of performers in the street of Hongdae. It's either they sing, dance, or some have their own comedy shows. I am so happy to see this live. I only got to see this in KDramas. One of the reasons why I became interested with the Korean culture is because of KPOP. The artists are very talented. As a wannabe-artist, it's fun to watch these people showcasing their talents and having fun while doing it.

Murals on the streets

While walking to our place, I can see a lot of beautiful murals where you can actually take a picture with it and post it on Instagram. And look at my photo, they really put some light so that even at night, people can take a photo with it. Actually, not only the murals, but Hongdae is really an IG-worthy place.

During my stays in Korea, I make sure that I will always stay in Hongdae. In fact, I call Hongdae as my home in Korea. I feel safe in Hongdae (well, I feel safe anywhere in Korea). Once this pandemic is over, I will make sure to go back to Hongdae. Make sure to visit Hongdae if you go to South Korea soon!

Record Of Youth Filming Locations That I Have Visited

Record of Youth is one of the KDramas that I am currently watching. I have been waiting for this drama because it's the last drama of Park Bogum as he enlisted in the military last August. I am also excited for this drama because it will not only talk about love, but also about life in general.

While watching the drama, there were familiar places that's why I loved it even more. In today's blog, I'll share to you the filming locations of Record of Youth that I have visited.

Starfield Library

Starfield Library is located at the COEX Mall. It is a public library that consists of more than 50,000 books and magazines. Around 600 foreign and local magazines are available for reading. For me, the attractive part in this place is the 13 meter tall bookshelf with a very beautiful painting.

Here's how you can go to Starfield Library:

Address: 513 Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

1. Take the Line 2 (Green) subway to Samseong Station

2. Use Exit 6 and just follow the signs to Starfield Coex Mall

3. The library is located in the main atrium.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is an events place. A lot of international events, exhibits, and even fashion shows are held at this place. In an episode of Record of Youth, it is where the characters of Park Bo Gum and Park So Dam first met. I was screaming when I watched this episode because I literally walked at that place too.

I visited DDP last 2019 during the ACH Invitation Program. Together with PH representatives and other ASEAN participants, we attended the Public Diplomacy Week.

How to go to DDP:

Address: 281, Eulji-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul

1. You can use Line 2, 4, 5 subway to Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station and use Exit 1.

2. Another option, you can use Line 1 subway to Dongdaemun Station and use Exit 7. Then you'll walk to DDP.

Hongdae (Hongik University Street)

Hongdae is one of my favorite places in South Korea. To be very honest, it is the place where we always stay. Main reason? It has an easy access to the subway (especially from the airport). Also, Hongdae is so alive every time I visit it.

On my next blog, I'll be writing a more detailed blog why I love Hongdae and why you should visit it too.

How to go to Hongdae:

Address: 20, Hongik-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul

1. Take the subway Line 2 (Green) and stop at Hongik University Station and use Exit 9.

Record of Youth is still an on-going drama (as of writing) and who knows? I might be familiar with other filming locations! I will be updating this blog if I found some familiar filming locations.

Hong Chun Cheon Cheese Dakgalbi - Hongdae

Dakgalbi is probably one of my favorite Korean dishes. If you're not that familiar with the dish, it is also known as the Korean spicy chicken stir fry. It is placed in a large pan mixed with rice cake, cabbage, onion, and cheese.

During our stay in Hongdae, we always pass by this restaurant, Hong Chun Cheon Cheese Dakgalbi. What actually caught our attention is Mamamoo Hwasa's poster in front of the restaurant. Other Mamamoo members are also models of this restaurant.

When we entered the restaurant, the staff were very accommodating. They immediately assisted us on our table and gave us the menu to choose. They also explained a little bit of what the dish is all about. We ordered their Best Menu "Spicy Cheese Dakgalbi" with additional rice and also fried chicken. You can also have some additional toppings like ramyeon, udon, dumplings, etc. But since we ordered rice, we didn't add anymore.

This was the wall design of the store. The restaurant actually has a second floor but we seated at the first floor so that we won't need to use the stairs. Besides, there were only few people there when we arrived.

After waiting for a few minutes, our orders arrived. We were just shocked with how large our orders were. Even the fried chicken were plenty. Since we cannot consume the fried chicken, we just had it for take-out.

Impressions on Hong Chun Cheon Cheese Dakgalbi - Hongdae Branch

1. The staff were accommodating. Even though we had different languages, they try their best to explain to us our orders.

2. The place is clean so we can be sure that our food is clean too.

3. Their food offers a larger amount compared to other restaurant so one order can serve two people.

4. The price of their food is actually reasonable.

5. Their food is delicious! If given the chance to go back to Korea, I would definitely want to go back and eat here.

Things I did during DAY6 Entropy comeback

So, this blog post is actually kinda late. I just somehow remembered posting this because DAY6 is having their comeback again! Last April 20, JYP Entertainment confirmed that DAY6 is coming back with another album, "The Book of Us: The Demon" on May 11. Before they confirmed it, subway ads posters were seen in South Korea just like the promotion they did for Entropy.

I visited South Korea last October 2019 and it was the same time DAY6 is having their promotion for their comeback, "The Book of Us: Entropy". A part of my bucket list is to actually support my faves during their comeback. I may not yet be considered as a pro in this matter, but I am proud that I am slowly achieving my fangirl goals. Since I can't travel back to Korea for their next comeback, I'll just be reminiscing the things I did last comeback.

Visiting the subway ads

This is probably the most unexpected thing that I did. Although I know that they have their subway ads, I was not aware that the station we went to has one! And I'm screaming internally when I saw the subway ad.

This was located at the Euljiro 3-Ga Station. My friend, Ms. Jay, and I saw this on our way back to Hongdae from Insadong. Although I look haggard, I didn't let go of this chance to have a photo with the subway ad.

Attending a Music Show

I have no photo inside the KBS Hall since we're not allowed to take photos there. So I'm just showing you these photos outside the hall. We attended KBS Music Bank wherein DAY6 is part of the line-up. A lot of fans are lining up outside the venue. They have their lightsticks/lightbands with them. There's also a paper placed on the floor so that you'll know where to line (since a lot of artists are performing).

We arrived inside the hall and the first to perform was NU'EST! It's my first time seeing NU'EST since I wasn't able to attend their concert in Manila (because I felt lazy to go to Cubao even if I have a chance lol). So, I'm really really happy I got to see them too!

Next was DAY6. They weren't playing their instruments live but they were singing live. I was so happy when Sungjin waved at us after they have done shooting. A lot of my friends there fell in love with Jae. They love Jae. Well, who wouldn't love him, right?

The next performer was TXT. Unfortunately, due to lack of time, we had to leave since we had another schedule to go to. But it's okay since we already met TXT when we visited SMTOWN Coex.

I'm only seeing this path in photos. But now, I have really seen it with my own eyes.

Visiting the Pop-Up Store

We visited the pop-up store on its last day because that's the only free time we have. It was located at the Yongsan I Park Mall 4th floor The Center. As far as I know, we only rode the subway from Hongik University Station to Yongsan Station and then walk.

What's in the pop-up store? Of course, DAY6 merch, mostly stuff about Entropy. But there were also some old merch there. Unfortunately, the DAY6 dolls that I'm looking for is already sold out. Also, I didn't buy their album because I already have a signed one.

But you know, there's a different feeling when you're holding the merch yourself. A different feeling from opening it from the box. You can really feel and think that this is real. Weird, but I got this feeling. My budget was a bit tight so I really didn't spend much.

I'm currently regretting the fact that I did not buy that body bag. I could have used it whenever I have events to cover.

The thing that I did not do but plan to do it in the future... attend a fansigning event

I have been updated with DAY6 fansign schedules. The thing is, our trip to Korea was full packed since we were there because we got invited by the Korean Foundation and ASEAN Culture House. All of DAY6's schedules do not match our schedule. So I didn't have the chance to join.

But I believe in the future, I'll get to attend a fansign! I promise. I'll attend a fansign of my favorite artist, whoever that artist is.

DAY6 is finally having their comeback this May 11 with the title track, "Zombie". Hope everyone can support DAY6!
